Updates for the Second to Last Week of School

I wanted to post some information concerning this last full week before the end of school.

Monday - We are reviewing science and social studies in anticipation of our upcoming science and social studies test.

Tuesday - Science testing in the morning. Review social studies for test in the afternoon.

Wednesday - Social studies test in the morning. Practice for graduation ceremony.

Thursday - We will have a game day (board games, card games, etc.). Practice for graduation. Prepare for 5th grade appreciations.

Friday - Preparing for 5th grade appreciations. Graduation practice. Friday gathering and Splash Day.

In the midst of all this, we will be taking care of a carpool schedule for graduation, and choosing a 4th grade speaker for graduation ceremony.

Needless to say, we have a very busy week ahead of us!

A Couple of Things for this Short Week

I hope that everyone is having a restful Labor Day weekend. 1) Remember that T hursday, September 6 (6:30-8:00 ) is Opening Picnic . We purposely hold Opening Picnic after Labor Day so that students become acclimated to school and feel comfortable showing you around the classroom and school. After we all gather for the picnic, students and parents will head into the classroom. I'll give students the chance to show you around before I spend a few minutes talking about a few items you as parents will want to know such as homework and discipline policies. Friday Schedule

Since Friday is our last day before the Christmas Break, I have allowed students to plan the day however they want. While many wanted recess for 6 hours, they came to realize that wasn't possible. You would think they wanted to watch movies but they didn't. Here is our schedule for the day: 8:00 - 8:45 Explorations 8:45 - 9:00 Sharing 9:00 - 10:00 Simulation (Exploration Simulation) 10:00 - 10:50 Videos (Popcorn/pretzels - small snacks) 10:50 - 11:30 Lunch 11:30 - 12:00 Fun Science Stuff (Students are planning and taking care of supplies) 12:00 - 12:30 Reading / Writing 12:30 - 1:15 Recess 1:15 - 1:30 Clean Up 1:30 - 2:20 Special Areas 2:20 - 2:50 Gathering We are not sure what the videos entail from 10:00 to 10:50, but I have a collection of small videos they would like to watch from a website called GoNoodle and my YouTube page, especially the Rube Goldberg videos.
