Curriculum Night Presentation

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend Curriculum Night. For those who were not able to make it, this is a presentation I shared outlining things like our class schedule, homework, etc.

    Since it's hard for me to get out and visit other teachers' Curriculum Nights, I really enjoyed seeing your presentation! What a brilliant idea. It looks like you guys are having a wonderful year - with the cool science engagements you shared as well. Thanks for sharing.

Friday Schedule

Since Friday is our last day before the Christmas Break, I have allowed students to plan the day however they want. While many wanted recess for 6 hours, they came to realize that wasn't possible. You would think they wanted to watch movies but they didn't. Hello Families - Since we have this day off, I'll update you on some information from the last couple of weeks of school. Our days are going well and the 5th graders are living into their new responsibilities. They are very excited about working with their kindergarten buddies. To prepare for reading with their buddies, we have spent our reading time reflecting on, and discussing, the reading strategies we use when reading books. The hope that is by understanding our own strategies and attitudes towards reading, students will be more aware of how to help their kindergarten buddies beyond just "sounding out" (which is often treated as the de-facto thing to say when reading with young readers).
