Science - Stream Tables

Image
We have slowly been making our way through our study of oceanic and continental landforms. As a part of this study, we look at how these landform are formed and destroyed through constructive and destructive processes. The stream tables we use show how water slowly erodes away the soil and forms deltas downstream. We can also mimic how floods erode away soil.

Continental and Oceanic Landforms

While I have not posted to the blog lately, we have still been actively working on many projects. One of those projects is building models. For our study of continental and oceanic land forms, students built models from Legos to demonstrate their understanding of these features. Once each group's model was complete, they used an app called "Educreations" to create a video explaining the various features. (Warning: Some of the videos are jerky and skip a bit. We haD a LOT of problems with the app on some of the iPads - I could only put the kids through so much frustration before they wanted to throw the iPads out the window!) Here are each table group's video: TABLE 1 TABLE 2   TABLE 3   TABLE 4   TABLE 5
