Information

I wanted to share some information I have so far this week. Over the next coming days you will be sent additional information concerning your child's learning at home. I am going to share some abbreviated information so you know what to expect over the next couple of days.

The district put together learning packets that each student is expected to complete. Through the packet, each day's work should account for about 3 hours of work in all academic areas (e.g., reading, writing, science). Your child completes the work, the parent signs off on the appropriate spot, and the packet will be returned at the end of the two weeks. This packet work will begin on Friday. All the material in the packet will be review, except for some math items on volume which we haven't covered. Your child should be able to quickly find the information on how to solve those problems. There may also be information your child will need to review.

Some time this evening you will receive an email (might be from Dr. Mueller) with a link to a survey. This survey will ask you information such as whether you will need a hard copy of the packet. If you need a hard copy the district will make arrangements to get you a copy (this might mean coming down the school and getting a copy - I'm not sure).

Once you have access to the packet you can begin completing the work.

If your child has access to Google Classroom, I will post optional work your child can work on. It's better to have more work than not enough. If your child is soaring through the packet and want additional work (or you want them to have additional work), they can go to our Google Classroom for that additional work. Some of this additional work will be:

  • MAP skills work
  • learn something new over the next couple of weeks and post about your progress
  • inquire into your 5th grade impact project
I will also have work hours scheduled if you or your child need to contact me. Those hours are 9:00-10:30 and 2:30-4:00. I also invited your child to a Google Hangout for our class if students need to contact me while I'm online.
